This Week In...
Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 10:25 It's been a while since I posted a list of podcasts I'm listening to/watching, so here it is, with extra "This Week In..."s for 2009!
This Week In Tech is still top of the bill for me. Despite my excessive use of Google Reader, still manages to deliver Twitter tech news that I somehow managed to miss. My Monday communte wouldn't be the same without Leo and the TWiTs.
Windows Weekly is another one that I never miss. For news on all things Microsoft, Paul Thurrott is one of the top half dozen people you'd turn to, and WW covers a nice range of products.
The Totally Rad Show is my one stop shop for reviews of movies, tv shows and video games. At the moment, watching TRS is about as close as I come to playing video games, and I like the general vibe between the hosts. I should also give a mention to Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo's Film Reviews, which I usually check out if they're covering a movie I'm interested in, although I find it incredibly annoying that the BBC doesn't let you access past episodes.
This Week In Science is new to this year's list. I checked it out after Dr Kiki (not to be confused with Dr Tiki!) appeared on TWiT and I can't seem to stop listening, and if you thought that wasn't geeky enough, the recent Swine Flu pandemic outbreak, prompted me to check out This Week In Virology! I don't know how exciting it'll be when there isn't such potentially exciting/dangerous virus news, but I find it a good listen (then again, I do also subscribe to ProMED-mail, so maybe I was an epidemiologist in a past life!).
Back to content relating to my day job and two podcasts coming from the vibrant PowerShell community. Hal Rottenberg and Jonathan Walz continue to produce great weekly episodes of the PowerScripting Podcast, and in the UK Jonathan Medd and Alan Renouf are doing good work on Get-Scripting (you can hear an interview with me in Episode 8).
I've really cut down on podcasts since I became an Audible member and started listening to a couple of audio books a month, but I still need my weekly gadget fix. That comes in the form of gdgt weekly with Ryan Block and Peter Rojas - there's nobody better placed to talk gadge than the guys who created Gizmodo and Engadget.
There are some other podcasts that I check out from time to time - you might want to go and have a look at these and see if they're of interest to you:
- net@nite
- Mind Of Root
- Hanselminutes
- Diggnation
